In her presentation, Sabrina shared highlights from her exciting career journey and how Alibaba and Ant Financial embrace gender diversity in the tech world. She remarked that “Technology touches our lives every single day. At Ant Financial and Alibaba Group, we have seen how the increase in women’s purchasing power is driving economic growth. Having more women working in the organisation has brought innovation and fresh ideas that cater to evolving consumer needs.


About the Speaker


Sabrina Peng is Vice President of Ant Financial Services Group, responsible for the international development of payment service providers. She currently oversees Alipay’s business development, operations and marketing activities in overseas regions.

Sabrina joined Alibaba Group in 2000 and was the architect behind Alibaba.com’s China TrustPass product. She served as director of customer service in Alibaba.com’s China marketplace division from 2004 to 2005, and as head of Alibaba.com’s China web operations department from March 2006 to February 2007. She was promoted to Vice President of Alibaba Group in October 2007 and was named President of Alipay International in Nov 2012.

Sabrina earned a Bachelor’s degree in English for Science & Technology and a Bachelor’s degree in International Trade from Xi’an Jiaotong University. She received an EMBA from China Europe International Business School.

Erika Irish Brown, Bloomberg LP

Erika Irish Brown is Global Head of Diversity & Inclusion at Bloomberg LP. In this role, she collaborates with senior management to drive the company’s global diversity and inclusion strategy ensuring alignment with business goals. Additionally, Erika has oversight across all Bloomberg Communities (Employee Networks) and external partnerships that promote an institutional culture of inclusion and an environment that supports diversity in all aspects of the business.

Prior to Joining Bloomberg, Erika was Head of Diversity Recruiting and Program Management and Head of Executive Recruiting at Bank of America. Erika’s background also includes over 15 years of investment banking and capital markets experience at organizations including Morgan Stanley, the U.S. Treasury and Lehman Brothers. Erika received her MBA from Columbia Business School and holds a BS in Economics from the State University of New York at Albany. She is currently Vice-Chair and Director of the Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation and Director and Nominating Committee Chair of the Council of Urban Professionals (CUP.)

 

Shiza Shahid, NOW Ventures

Shiza Shahid is an entrepreneur, investor and women’s rights advocate. She is passionate about leveraging philanthropy, venture capital, technology and the media to drive scalable social impact.

Shiza co-founded the Malala Fund with Nobel Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, and led the organization as founding CEO. She is now focused on supporting mission-driven startups whose financial success makes the world a better place through her seed-stage VC fund and platform, NOW Ventures.

Shiza grew up in Pakistan as a vocal advocate for social change. She graduated from Stanford University with University Distinction. She was a business analyst with McKinsey & Company.

Shiza is a prominent speaker on millennial and women’s entrepreneurship. She speaks frequently at major international convenings including Aspen Ideas Fest, Milken Global Institute, Forbes Women, Fortune Most Powerful Women, Inc Women, Women Moving Millions, World Economic Forum and others. She has also received many awards for her work including Times 30 under 30 World Changer, Forbes 30 under 30 Social Entrepreneur, WEF Global Agenda Council and Tribeca Institute Disruptive Innovator.
