A huge thank you to everyone who came to, or otherwise supported, our 2017 Gala Dinner last Wednesday.
We were absolutely thrilled with the energy and engagement of our guests, the generosity of our supporting partners and prize sponsors, the touching sharing by our Girls Go Tech participants, and the beautiful performance of singers Medici Cantano, helping us raise record funds for our programmes, research and initiatives to help women and girls in Hong Kong. We are very grateful to our title sponsor, Bloomberg, for their contribution to a stellar result.
A special thank you to our Honorary Patron and keynote speaker, Mrs Anson Chan, for eloquently setting a clear picture of the further work that needs to be done to achieve gender equality. From "educat[ing] young men to treat young women as equals and to raise awareness at all levels of society of the need for zero tolerance of sexual harassment and abuse" to noting that "the ascendancy of more women into positions of leadership and influence will be a vital prerequisite to tackling gender bias, sexism and latent misogyny", Mrs Chan’s speech touches on the most critical gender issues facing Hong Kong today.
