Presentation at Kering on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women

November 25 was designated as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women by the UN General Assembly on December 17, 1999. It is an occasion for governments, international organisations and non-governmental organisations to raise public awareness of violence against women.

This year, Tiffany Ng, the Centre-in-Charge for Rainlily - Hong Kong’s first one-stop crisis centre for female victims of sexual violence and I were invited by Kering to give presentations on violence against women as well as what TWF and Rainlily are doing to tackle it. The presentations were followed by Q&A.

Talking about how TWF is trying to tackle the root causes for why men and boys continue to perpetrate violence against women.

Tiffany Ng, Centre-in-Charge for Rainlily, Hong Kong’s first one-stop crisis centre for female victims of sexual violence, talks about how rape victim blaming is common in Hong Kong and how difficult it is for rape victims to tackle self blaming.

"Gentle Guy Ambassador Training" and "Walk in her Shoes" are events organised by Rainlily. The participation of men shows that sex violence is not just a women's issue.

Rainlily provides one-stop services including medical treatment, counselling, police reporting and legal advice to victims of sexual violence.

With Charlotte Judet and Carlo Imo of Kering and Tiffany Ng of Rainlily at Kering's offices on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
