At a lunch presentation by Anthony Monaco, President of Tufts, on the value proposition for university education: enduring lessons and 21st century skills

According to President Monaco, the ability to leverage data will drive innovation in all sectors of society. Therefore, combining expertise in data science and quantitative methods with the critical thinking a liberal arts education provides can create powerful results.

With President Monaco and Vernon Moore who gave the welcome and thank you remarks at the event at the Asia Society

Commentators are predicting the collapse of higher education and we need a 21st century approach.

A new Goldman Sachs report suggests kids in mid tier institutions should skip college and pursue job related training. Many think of a college degree as a vocational ticket rather than an important plank of education and life long learning.

Tufts believes in the importance of connections across disciplines, institutions and borders. All Tufts University students take arts and humanities and are taught how to use data to enhance critical thinking and problem solving. Tufts' also strongly believes that community service during college is key to educate and inspire future leaders to drive positive changes in society.
