Hong Kong Needs Paid Parental Leave

Thank you to everyone who took the trouble to respond to the discussion on Netflix and parental leave policies.

We received many heartening accounts including one from Marta Drzewakowska of Crown Relocations who described how, through open and honest discussion with management at Crown, she enjoyed a smooth transition back to the workplace by initially working part-time from home after having her baby. It seems progress is being made in Hong Kong. However, it is also clear that as raised by David Webb of Webb-site.com and Sally Ryder of Ryder Diamonds, the lack of public funding for paid parental leave remains a critical barrier to finding a more universal solution and in particular one that would help SMEs.

We have taken everyone's feedback to heart and we are considering what TWF can and should do in respect of this issue going forward. We really value this interaction and engagement with all of you so please keep your thoughts and comments coming to su-mei.thompson@twfhk.org!
