As you will see from the news round-up below, TWF has been involved in many IWD celebrations including our own IWD gala lunch last Friday. A huge thank you to everyone who came to the lunch or otherwise supported the event which raised over HK$1 million for TWF and our work.
One of the most striking things about this year's lunch was the number of men in the room. Thank you guys for helping us to promote the message that gender equality isn't just a women's issue, it's a men's issue too. This is the message of my opinion piece in today's SCMP. And it's why this week, we launched a new initiative: the TWF Male Allies, a group of male leaders from over 20 firms who are committed to driving institutional change and taking personal action to create a more level playing field.
At TWF, we think it is critical for men to assume greater responsibility for shifting the conversation about gender equality from the margins to the centre. In the words of former head of the Australian Army and this year's Australian of the Year, General David Morrison, “The standard you walk past is the standard you accept."
