Showing up for Gender Equality with Intentional Optimism
Jan2026

We hope you had time to rest and reflect over the winter holidays. At TWF, we’re greeting 2026 with intentional optimism—more than a positive mindset, it’s a conscious effort to envision a better future and take actionable steps to achieve it. For our work to improve the lives of women and girls, this belief that gender equality is possible fuels strategic action.
Whilst Hong Kong has made progress in areas like women's leadership, significant challenges persist for women and girls, including low workforce participation, pervasive sexual violence, and entrenched gender bias. Addressing these complex issues requires concerted, cross-sector efforts, but the progress made shows that change is possible.
Here are three ways TWF will continue to show up for gender equality in 2026:
Empowering diverse gender equality advocates for change: When individuals are empowered to identify and address gender bias within their spheres of influence, it drives a long-term cultural shift towards equality. This is why we equip Young Allies, Male Allies, and Mentoring Programme participants with knowledge and skills to inspire inclusive behaviour and mindset shifts in their communities and organisations.
Cultivating skills and networks to disrupt the status quo: Through tailored programmes, we create conditions for more equal workplaces and society. This includes: empowering underserved women with life skills and emotional resilience through Path to Empowerment Programme; inspiring underserved secondary school girls and university women to pursue STEM subjects and careers through our Girls Go Tech Programme; supporting English language learning among underserved girls through English for Opportunity; and sharpening leadership skills through our Boardroom & C-Suite Leadership Programme.
Raising awareness and equipping communities for action: Research remains core to our work, paired with actionable recommendations and advocacy. This year, we look forward to building on our past efforts to strengthen sexual violence laws through responding to the upcoming public consultation, launching new research on menopause and continuing to raise awareness on new and existing forms of gender inequality, among other activities.
We look forward to working with our participants, alumni, partners, supporters and other stakeholders to create material change in the year ahead.
Let’s get started!
