Evaluation Report for TWF's Financial Literacy Programme for Marginalised Women

TWF launched our Financial Literacy Programme in 2011, having conducted a smaller scale pilot programme prior to this. The Programme aims to empower marginalised communities of women in Hong Kong to achieve greater economic self-reliance through financial literacy training and by boosting their self-confidence. In keeping with the value which TWF places on objective and incisive research and evidence-based approaches, the Social Work Department of The Chinese University of Hong Kong was selected as our independent evaluator through a tender process involving the Programme Steering Committee which comprises independent subject matter experts. CUHK found substantial improvements in the participants’ sense of self-efficacy and their ability to provide a better education for their children. Participants gained more than just knowledge - many also experienced profound behavioural and attitudinal transformations including changes in their attitude to life, self-perception and consumption patterns, and setting a good example for their family.
