ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Dr. Kiran Bedi became the first women in India to join the officer ranks of the Indian Police Service in 1972. She continued on to work with the United Nations in New York as the Police Advisor to the Secretary General, in the Department of Peace Keeping Operations. She led 16 Peacekeeping Operations in war-torn countries across Africa, Asia, and Europe.

Dr. Bedi has founded two NGOs, Navjyoti and India Vision Foundation. She is also the author of several books including It’s Always Possible, What Went Wrong, As I See, Broom and Groom and India Protests.

Dr. Bedi is a recipient of the Ramon Magsaysay Award, which is often considered to be an Asian equivalent to the Nobel Prize. She was also voted as India’s most trusted woman by Readers Digest and as one of the Top 10 Women Icons of 2013 by The Economic Times.
